CONEYSTHORPE 'A' edged closer to securing the SLT FM Solutions Ltd York and District Table Tennis League division one title following a 9-1 demolition of their 'B' team.

James Rule and Martin Lowe were again unbeaten for the 'A' team, although Joel Wright played well to defeat Ashley Hodgson.

Aidan Ranftler retained his unbeaten record this year but Clarence 'A' had to be content with a 5-5 draw against York RI 'C'.

York RI 'A' thrashed York RI 'B' 9-1 thanks to Richard Moss and Paul Robertson, while Bootham 'A' showed no mercy as they whitewashed division two bound York RI 'D'.

In the second division, Strensall eased their relegation concerns with Nigel Reeson and Dave Quinlan leading the way as they thumped Ryedale@RI 9-1.

RI 'F' moved above Ryedale after recording a convincing 8-2 victory over BT 'A' with Adam Ridley on top form. Dave Simpson played well to pick up two wins for BT.

Martin Hood and Alfie Potter contributed trebles as Clarence 'B' beat Bootham 'B' 9-1 but, in a re-arranged fixture, Wetherby blew the title race wide open by defeating Clarence 7-3 with star man Dave Jackson unbeaten.

Dave Rawlings excelled as Bootham 'C' triumphed 7-3 over Shepherds 'A' and University 'C' defeated Bootham 'D' by the same margin with Ishan Bairoliya too good.

Division three leaders Clarence 'C' cruised to a 9-1 victory over Wigginton & Haxby with Rob Farmery and Bob Young recording three wins. A treble from Razvan Ababei could not prevent University 'B' going down 6-4 to promotion rivals York 'G'.

Burnholme 'B' moved off the bottom of the table following a shock 8-2 victory over BT 'B' with Adrian Church and Michal Slezak hitting top form.

Clarence 'D' defeated York RI 'H' 7-3 but could not overcome Paul Greenwood, who ended the night unbeaten. Bootham 'F' posted an excellent 7-3 win over Shepherds 'B' with Russ Barton rising to the occasion, while a maximum from Pete Corner was the highlight as Bootham 'E' drew 5-5 with Burnholme 'A'.

In division four, second placed Clarence 'F' slumped to their first defeat of the season as Paul Lodder starred for Clarence 'G' in a 7-3 victory.

Leaders Clarence 'E' took full advantage when defeating York RI 'I' 9-1. A treble from Mark Godliman allowed a depleted Trustmarque to emerge with a battling 6-4 victory against University 'C'.

All players are reminded that the York Closed Championships will be held on the weekend of March 5 and 6 with the closing date for entries Monday, February 22.
