HUNTINGTON Rovers are this season's Leeper Hare York and District Football League premier division champions.
They clinched the title without even kicking a ball this week after defending champions Dringhouses - the only side able to stop Huntington from taking the title - were beaten 4-2 at Kartiers.
The Selby side were in front within five minutes through Glen Littlewood but two free-kicks, the first from Colin Rayner and the second from Jamie Bonarious turned the tables for Dringhouses to lead before the interval.
After the re-start Kartiers were level inside a minute and then regained the advantage, both goals coming from Matt Cooper.
The win - and with it the the destiny of the title - were confirmed three minutes from time when Andrew Woodhall sealed Kartiers' well-deserved triumph.
Two of the struggling sides in Reserve A' both collected valuable points in their quest to avoid the drop.
Two goals from Mark Bennett gave New Earswick a 2-1 win at Rufforth, their first win in four games. Thorpe earned a point from a 1-1 draw at Huntington but remain in the relegation zone.
It was also a good night for the relegation-threatened sides in Reserve B'.
Matt Hill scored the only goal of the game as bottom side Amotherby beat Hamilton Panthers.
Wilberfoss moved out of the bottom two with a 2-1 home win over Stamford Bridge thanks to goals from Olly Newby and John Parkin.
A Sam Landers hat-trick gave Malton and Norton a 4-1 home win over Easingwold to ensure their status for next season.
Heslington's promotion chances from Reserve C' took another knock as they went down 4-0 at champions York RI for whom Steve Cross scored twice.
If Riccall win their final fixture against Ouseburn they will go up leaving Heslington in the bottom flight for another term.
