SHANGHAI continued to bring more low woe for York golfer Simon Dyson.

The world number 109 improved on his opening round three-over-par 75 score when he carded a level-par 72 in the BMW Masters at the Lake Malaren course in China’s most populous port city.

But he dropped another place to 67th at the midway point, where fortunately there is no cut-off point in the $7 million tournament.

Dyson’s outward nine was conspicuous by just one bogey, in contrast to the second half of the round.

The Malton & Norton Golf Club player rattled in three birdies, marred by just another dropped shot in the space of five holes. But a welcome sub-par round was erased when he repeated his first round feat of dropping another shot on the 17th.

The half-way stage lead was held by Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts on 14 under after rounds of 66 and 64 to head Alexander Levy of France (65, 66) by one shot.
