YORK City is putting supporters first with the launch of two new club awards.

The club has launched its first ever Fan Of The Year award in recognition of the support City received from its fans, particularly during the club’s march to the League Two play-offs last season.

And ahead of York's first home league game of the season against Northampton today, the club also launched its first Customer Service Award as part of a drive to further improve the matchday experience at Bootham Crescent.

The Fan Of The Year award will be presented alongside the player of the year awards at the club’s prestigious end of season dinner.

Not only will the winner attend the dinner but he or she will also receive an Apple iPad, donated by the club’s back of shorts sponsor Helmsley Computers, and a trophy donated by Ian Waddington, of Clifton Cobblers & Services, based at Clifton.

Manager Nigel Worthington said: “The end of season Player Of The Year awards quite rightly recognise the efforts of the players during the season and I know the Billy Fenton Clubman Of The Year Award in particular is highly regarded and valued by the players.

“But last season’s success was really a team effort and we should not forget the vital role the supporters played in driving the players on.

“The supporters’ role this season will be just as important and we hope this award will go some way to showing our fans just how much everyone at the club values their incredible support.”

The new Customer Service Award aims to reward staff who go “the extra mile” to deliver a high-quality customer service. The winner, also announced at the end of the season, will also receive an Apple iPad, again donated by Helmsley Computers.
