ENGLAND rockitball coach Paul Hildreth and reigning V2 world champion Tom Hildreth are heading to Uganda to encourage the growth of the sport in East Africa.

The pair will run masterclasses for the top Ugandan VX - as rockitball is now known - players, visit local schools, and undertake a media tour while on their visit.

They will also meet the officials of VX Uganda and VX Africa along with officials from the Ugandan Council of Sport.

Hasindihe James, Head of VX Uganda, said: “We are delighted that Tom and Paul are coming to visit to help us grow the sport.

“There is a lot of excitement in the media about this and we are sure that having the England coach and the world champion here will give our sport a boost in the region.”

Tom said: “I’ve heard so much about what the guys over there are doing and how much progress they have made with minimal resources. I’m looking forward to help grow the sport further and improve the players.”

VX has now spread to Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya and South Africa. VX Uganda has hosted two V2 African Nations Championships, each won by Timothy Malingha, who is now keen to pit himself against the world champion and compete in the World Championships.
