Tadcaster Albion have forged a close link with Tadcaster Grammar School in a mutually beneficial tie-up aimed at raising the profile of the Northern Counties East League premier division title-chasers.

Club chairman Matt Gore, and fellow directors James Gore and Kent Mayall, of Inspire2Independence (i2i), have offered all students and parents free admission to watch tomorrow’s clash at home to Garforth Town.

Tadcaster GS is reciprocating by sponsoring the event.

Said chairman Gore: “We are really looking forward to working with the school and building a relationship between us.

“Our aim for the match is to raise as much awareness as we can within the community and hope their experience of the day will bring them back to become regular followers.

“If we can entice more people to support us then this will definitely be a bonus and could be something we look at with other schools.”

Albion directors met with Rob Solk, head of the PE faculty at the school, who said: “We discussed the use of Tadcaster Albion facilities should we require them for finals or major events.

“A competition is also in the pipeline for our students to create or design a club mascot for Tadcaster Albion, with a prize going to the winner.

Added Solk: “Negotiations are in early stages, but they are keen to develop our young rising footballers to an advanced level through their UEFA coaches and Tadcaster Albion and also want to provide coaching sessions for any young player regardless of ability as part of the PE curriculum.”
