STRIKER Ryan Jarvis and centre-back David McGurk are expected to miss Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two clash with Cheltenham at Bootham Crescent.

McGurk (back) and Ryan Jarvis (ankle) are manager Nigel Worthington’s only current injury concerns, aside from long-term casualty Dan Parslow (knee).

“I don’t think Dave will make Saturday,” the Minstermen chief said. “He is still feeling something in his back.

“Ryan Jarvis is probably out too but we will give him as much time as is needed and he could be on the borderline.”

Russell Penn and Keith Lowe will both come up against the team with which they kicked off the campaign but, while Worthington has discussed their old club with the pair, he will not be reliant on their information alone.

“You can tap into little bits and pieces but we have had Cheltenham watched on several occasions and have got reports so we have a good picture of what they are about individually and collectively and what we need to do,” he said.

With last weekend’s hard-fought victory at high-flying Fleetwood following on from a disappointing midweek humbling by Chesterfield, Worthington also reasoned that the key to further progress in the Sky Bet League Two standings lies in the mind.

He said: “The performance was excellent at Fleetwood and the result was outstanding. We are looking for consistency now and that takes preparation individually in terms of players’ mental approach to games because, if we perform how we can, we can go on a decent run.

“I never ask players to do anything they can’t, but I always ask for the maximum of what they can do.”
