GRAHAM INSTONE and Dave Kermode lifted the first domestic trophy at York Indoor Bowls Club this season.
The opening competition final of the campaign promised to be a close affair, as Instone and Kermode looked to be evenly matched with Tom Forbes pairs foes Phil Parsons and Andy Humphreys.
Parsons and Humphreys drew first blood with a single, but their opponents responded with a four.
Another single from Parsons and Humphreys was followed by another four as Instone and Kermode gained some breathing space.
They built up a commanding 21-4 lead before the game was conceded on the 12th end.
York’s next competition is the New Year’s Eve pairs.
