PICKERING cueman Paul Davison is targeting a world ranking tournament double.

The world number 74 beat Jamie Jones 5-3 in the German Masters qualifiers in Barnsley, and tomorrow takes on Mike Dunn in the first round of the Haikou World Open.

The win over world number 38 Jones in round one booked Davison a trip to the Tempodrom in Berlin for the Masters, which is held between January 29 and February 2.

Davison, fresh from his first appearance at the York Barbican in the williamhill.com UK Championship, went 2-0 up after edging two tight frames, aided by a break of 52 in the second.

A run of 67 put the North Yorkshire player in command at 3-0, but Jones nicked the next despite a break of 64 from his opponent.

Jones knocked in a 54 break to close the gap to one frame, but Davison responded with a break of 55 to clinch the sixth frame.

Although Jones won the seventh, Davison sealed victory in style with a break of 97.

A victory over Dunn, ranking 64th in the world, would earn Davison a place in the last 64 of the Haikou World Open, which will be played in Hainan, China, between March 10 and 16.

The match at Barnsley Metrodome starts at 10am.
