williamhill.com UK Championship: day 12 live blog

This live event has finished

9:56pm

Well, that's it for this evening. Join us tomorrow as the world number one and world number two, Neil Robertson and Mark Selby, battle it out over 19 frames to be crowned williamhill.com UK Champion.

9:45pm

And here is Mark Selby talking about his win, and that 147.

9:33pm

Ricky Walden talks about the match...

9:23pm

Selby finishes with a total clearance of 136. He has beaten Ricky Walden 9-5 and will bid to become the first player since Stephen Hendry, 17 years ago, to defend his title.

He plays Neil Robertson tomorrow in the final.

9:20pm

It's a century for Selby!

9:18pm

Walden now requires snookers. Can Selby finish in style?

9:18pm

56 and counting...

9:16pm

Good long red from Selby keeps his break alive. He's on 36.

9:12pm

Walden jaws a long red and Selby pots it. Lots to do here.

9:06pm

Break of 85 from Walden and he's pulled another back. It's now 8-5. It couldn't happen again, could it?

8:57pm

Safety error from Selby and Walden will now have the chance to eat into the deficit.

8:54pm

He's got it at the seventh go, but has conceded a load of points and trails Selby by 58 points.

8:51pm

Walden stuck in a snooker behind the brown. He needs something special.

8:48pm

We are back after the break and it is the defending champion who is at the table.

8:26pm

8:26pm

Decent break later and Walden has another. 8-4 at the interval.

8:22pm

8:16pm

Careless from Selby. Misses easy red to the middle.

8:07pm

For another frame, in fact. It's a break of 50. It's now Selby leading 8-3.

8:03pm

A missed blue means Walden lives to fight on.

8:02pm

Another long pot fails to drop for Walden and Selby in again. Will he finish it here?

8:02pm

7:54pm

7:54pm

A break of 55 later and Selby now leads 8-2.

7:50pm

Just far too many misses.

7:49pm

7:49pm

Mistake from Selby, screwing the white into the middle pocket after potting a red. Walden simply must take this chance.

7:34pm

The answer is dearly. He is 7-2 behind now. A real body blow for Walden.

7:31pm

But yet another bad miss on a red. How much will it cost him this time?

7:29pm

What a pot! After Selby effects an escape, Walden rolls a red down the bottom cushion and into the right corner.

7:28pm

Walden has put Selby into a vice of a snooker - tight behind the brown and he's taken three goes so far to get out of it.

7:25pm

7:24pm

7:20pm

Selby breaks down on 40, missing a pink to the middle although it sounded like a bad contact.

He's 47 points ahead and Walden, who has potted a red, looks to have few options.

7:12pm

He hits a hard pink to the middle pocket, though, and it stays out. Gets away with it.

7:09pm

Thunderous red from Selby to open up proceedings.

7:04pm

Selby is in the arena and he's watching the BBC footage of the 147 and listening to Stephen Hendry bigging him up.

I think he's trying to block it all out, but he looks pretty relaxed.

6:59pm

But, as they say, all a 147 does is win you one frame.

Mark Selby still has a job to do. He is 6-2 up on Ricky Walden and still needs another three if he is to reach tomorrow's final.

Ricky will want to make it difficult. Can he manufacture a stirring comeback?

Well, have you all calmed down yet?

There are a few hands still shaking after Mark Selby hit the 100th 147 in snooker history this afternoon.

If you haven't caught up on the news, checkout the link above:

5:06pm

Selby kept his composure after that amazing feat and Walden needs snookers in the next. Walden doesn't get them and it is 6-2 at the break.

4:43pm

That is the 100th 147 in competitive play. And it's landed him £55,000.

And a 5-2 lead over Ricky Walden.

4:41pm

It was a thin black to the middle. He hit it slowly, it wobbled and dropped,

4:39pm

IT'S IN. MARK SELBY HAS JUST HIT A 147.

4:38pm

But it's terrible position on the black.

4:38pm

It's in!

4:38pm

This is a big shot.

4:38pm

Stretching for pink. Gets an extension.

4:37pm

There is the blue!

4:37pm

The brown is in. brilliant position on blue.

4:36pm

Here is the big shot. Green to brown, with blue close. He's short.

4:36pm

Perfect on yellow.

4:35pm

It's on the colours now.

4:34pm

That's the century!

4:32pm

The last red is going to be a problem. As will the brown.

4:31pm

147 alert. It's a difficult one, though..

4:27pm

Walden's long potting has been way off too and other missed effort gives Selby another chance.

4:24pm

Selby takes the frame and now leads 4-2.

4:23pm

Ricky wins the ensuing safety battle, but then misses a pink to the left corner. There's been far too many standard misses from both players. Neil Robertson will be licking his lips!

4:19pm

It takes Ricky five goes to hit it.

4:16pm

Huge slice of luck for Selby there. Misses a pink by a mile but the white ball nestles right behind the brown.

3:58pm

3:57pm

But it is Walden who takes it, helped by a fantastic snooker on the green. He needed that one and now only trails 3-2.

3:55pm

He scores 43, unable to get position. The green. The frame is still up for grabs.

3:50pm

Not for the first time, Selby had got himself into a decent position and slipped up. This time he misses a black on 39. Can Walden punish him this time?

3:34pm

The players are back out for the resumption.

3:15pm

Another frame that has see-sawed like those that came before it. Key shot, missed brown by Walden. The result? It's 3-1 Selby at the interval.

2:42pm

2:41pm

Now it's Walden's turn to punish Selby. He fires back with a break of 62 to get his first frame on the board. 2-1 Selby.

2:28pm

51 from Selby but he is flinging the odd loose shot in there.

2:20pm

Well. How do you follow that?

2:20pm

2:19pm

2:19pm

Really poor safety from Selby, though, but Walden - with the rest - can't cut the black in. It wobbles and stays out.

Selby snaps it up and, somehow leads 2-0. Really dramatic frame.

2:17pm

Selby pots a lovely blue to the green pocket and an even better shot to pot the pink in the middle and come back for the black.

But he misses the final ball!

2:12pm

2:11pm

Walden sticks the brown over the pocket but Selby then misses the blue. What's going on here?

2:06pm

No one wants to win this frame at the moment. Walden has the advantage, 14 points, but has just missed the brown.

1:58pm

Break of 53 but misses a long yellow to the baulk pocket. It looks to have run safe.

1:53pm

Great shot to split the reds by Selby on 30 but he misses a black on 44. Should have got it too.

Big opportunity for Ricky Walden now.

1:43pm

Decent start for Selby. A break of 69 to take the opening frame. Have to say the defending champion is looking more fluent than he has done in the tournament.

1:32pm

1:32pm

Some early nerves from both players here. Couple of routine pots missed but Selby is now at the table and looking to build a lead.

1:26pm

The afternoon session is under way at the Barbican.

12:26pm

What a night we had yesterday. Neil Robertson, 8-3 up against Stuart Bingham, had to withstand an amazing fight back before finally getting over the line in a dramatic final frame decider.

Here's what the Aussie had to say, courtesy of World Snooker, about a sensational evening on the baize.

12:22pm

Good afternoon once again from the Barbican Centre.

The finishing line is in yet and today we see the second semi-final - between the defending champion Mark Selby and two-time ranking event winner Ricky Walden.
