SANDRA BRUCE gamed in 23 darts and Magnet team-mate Flossy Crampton hit a 27-darter – but they still went down 7-4 at Slipper in division one of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.

The efforts of Bruce and Crampton ensured the sides were level heading into the pairs, although Vicky Middleton and Doreen Johnstone edged the home team in front.

Bruce and Tracey Watkinson set up a decider, which saw Slipper’s Sue Tate and Anne Parkyn seal victory.

Leaders Five Lions lost 7-4 at home to Marcia, despite roaring into a commanding lead thanks to Jill Reed, Anne Bass and captain Michelle Britton.

However, Marcia captain Diane Moreland inspired her team, setting off a winning surge and later combining with Carol Perrett to clinch the victory.

Burnholme cleaned up in the pairs to beat Acomb 8-3, while Cueball ‘A’ were 7-4 victors at home to Bootham Cons Club despite two tons from Jane Barnes.

Carole Layne’s three ton scores gave Tramways a 3-2 advantage at Severus ‘A’, but Mavis Gallimore closed on bull to level.

Gallimore then combined with Sheila Elliott to secure match points in a decider.

Division two leaders Edinburgh were 8-3 winners at Woolpack, with captain Chris Lamb inspiring her team.

Leeman were 9-2 winners at Turpin, racing ahead with wins from Denise Pittock, Margaret Yeomans, Debbie Witts and Charlotte Witts.

Debbie Witts later checked out on 76 in the pairs with Yeomans.

Burton WMC’s Dawn Barker and Sandra Pallister were the deciding leg victors against Sun Inn.

Severus ‘B’ held on to second place in the table despite losing 7-4 at Jubilee, whose final pairing of Julie Oliver and Laura Heward snatched the win.

Visitors Castle Howard Ox raised their game in the pairs to see off Shoulder ‘B’, while Green Tree were 8-3 winners at Marcia Grey having raced into a 4-0 lead through Janine Cartwright, Jacqueline Young, Sheridan Kilner and Alison Buckley.
