York City's home game with Aldershot declared ON by match referee

UPDATED: YORK City's game at home to Aldershot Town in npower League Two will go ahead as planned at 3pm.

The Bootham Crescent surface, which has been covered since Monday, was deemed playable at 9am but after snow was cleared it was decided to conduct a further inspection at noon.

However, referee Trevor Kettle then cancelled the noon inspection and declared the game would go ahead.

Only two other games remain on in npower League Two, Northampton v Burton Albion and Wycombe v Dagenham & Redbridge.

Yes of course there has to be! Match officials have to check all ok following covers and snow clearance and give a final ok.

Well done to all the ground-staff. Most of the games are off in L2 this afternoon. Great effort!

Thanks to everyone who helped clear the snow. Apparently the council gritted the surrounding areas too. Great effort.

I never honestly expected this game to be played today. Looking forward to seeing a really good game. But after all the effort to get it on, lets hope that we get the right result.
