YORK Indoor Bowls Club picked up their first Hebden Trophy league success of the season at the third time of asking as they beat Doncaster 103-62.
At home, Geoff Walker’s team led all the way, picking up a seven on the 17th end to make the score 31-11. They got a six two ends later on their way to a 38-13 victory.
Eric Hodgson’s side were 6-2 down after four ends but only lost three more and won 37-10.
Both away rinks were made to pay for poor starts which saw Tony Bryan’s trailing 16-1 and Jim Robertson’s 13-2 – both after ten ends.
They picked up in the second half and Bryan’s team only lost 23-14 and Robertson’s went down by only two shots at 16-14.
