ACOMB Hockey Club men’s first team climbed to fourth place in the Yorkshire League fourth division after a 3-1 conquest of Chapeltown thirds.
The hosts formed a cohesive unit straight from the whistle and soon opened their tally with a goal from Harry Ellis.
Acomb’s defence kept things watertight and the midfield kept the forwards in good supply.
Ryan Forster bagged a brace of goals before half-time.
After the break Chapeltown played with renewed vigour and scored a consolation goal to deny Acomb goalkeeper Craig Brown the clean sheet he wanted.
Forster and Baz Whitfield, pictured, tied for the man-of-the-match vote.
Acomb men seconds, meanwhile, were held to a 1-1 deadlock by City of York VII in division six north.
The Acomb goal was dispatched by defender, and man-of-the match, Paul Kellett.
