DESPITE frost and then a thaw, top-class golf was played on the Par-Tee Golf Society winter tour’s second event at Heworth Golf Club.
Of five new players to enlist on the tour, Peter Lambert carded a fantastic 39 points to win a trophy, a new Wilson putter and events winner polo shirt.
The 2011 York & District Golf League winner Gary Smith was second on 38 points and Ron Jones was third. He also claimed the nearest the pin prize and now leads the tour after two rounds from Jason Fletcher and Lambert in joint second.
The third event on the tour is at Swallow Hall GC on Saturday, November 17.
