THE Bishop of Selby has moved in to his new home.

Right Reverend Doctor John Thomson and his wife Susan have moved in to the former Barlby Vicarage which has been refurbished and will be known as Bishops House in York Road, Barlby.

It's the first time for a long time that the bishop of Selby will live in the Selby area, as previous holders of the posted have chosen to live in or around York.

The Bishop, who was brought up in Uganda the has moved into Barlby with his wife Susan after living in temporary accommodation in York since being appointed last year. He studied at the University of York and since 2001 he has been Director of Ministry in the Diocese of Sheffield and an Honorary Canon of Sheffield Cathedral.

He succeeded the Rt Revd Martin Wallace, who retired in November 2013.
