A THEATRE producer is joining forces with Age UK to bring a vintage cabaret show to Selby.

The performance of songs from the 1940s, 50s and 60s will take place on Thursday (30) at the Bridge View Tea Rooms, in Ousegate, from 1pm.

Guests will be served tea and cakes during the hour-long show, starring Charlotte Gray and Donna Riley from the We Are Theatre company. Liz Ryan, who was responsible for bringing Belt Up Theatre’s production of The Hunchback Of Notre Dame to Selby Abbey in 2012, said: “I have relatives of my own who are getting on in years, and I noticed that they and their friends still want to get out and about, and have a social life.

“This show aims to fill that gap in provision because it takes place in the afternoon, which a lot of older people find more convenient.”

Jackie Mook, of Age UK Selby, said: “Old songs can really bring back memories, especially when everyone joins in.

“This is a great use for our tea room, and both the sale of tea and cakes and the charity bingo will bring in extra funds for us as well.”

Tickets cost £10.75 and can be bought from Bridge View Tea Room. For more information, phone 01757 429507.
