THE winners of this year's Selby Camera Club annual exhibition have been announced.

The event, sponsored by Access Selby, had 634 public votes for more than 100 prints on display with the winning image, Staithes Winter Light by Robert Helliwell getting 234 points. Second place was Crested Tit by Richard Poskitt with 174 points, third place was Mountain Hare by Richard Poskitt with 160 points with fourth place The Shambles - York by Georgina Brown with 155 points and fifth place West Burton Falls by David Arundell with 142 points.

The exhibition will be a showcase of the talent and creativity of the Selby Camera Club over the last year and aimed to inspire others to take up the art of photography.

Access Selby is once again sponsoring the event, as part of an ongoing partnership with the club. The Council uses images from club members in its publications and online, to help showcase the very best of the Selby district.

Selby Camera Club has a long history beginning in 1887 just decades after photography was first invented.

Brian Hiorns, the current club president, said: “The exhibition is an annual highlight for all our members as they enjoy sharing their tips and knowledge to the visitors and are more than happy to answer any of your questions about their work.

“Changes to technology have helped our club become even better as more people than ever are able to access digital photography and so want to be a part of this wonderful day either as an artist or as a visitor."
