POLICE have appealed for witnesses to come forward after a Land Rover overturned on a Ryedale road when it was hit by a car.
The collision happened at about 5pm on Wednesday as the Land Rover Defender, towing a trailer carrying poultry crates, was travelling along the B1257 towards Malton.
It was overtaken by a silver Ford near Stonegrave, which clipped the front of the other vehicle and caused it to swerve and overturn. The driver of the car, which had a 58 registration plate, did not stop at the scene, with the Land Rover's driver, a 65-year-old man from Beverley, escaping uninjured.
Traffic Constable Paul Merritt, who is investigating the incident, said: "It is possible the driver of the Ford is unaware a collision has taken place, but it is important that person is traced."
Anybody who saw the crash should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option two and ask for Paul Merritt or Scarborough Road Policing Group.
