TEN new homes are to be built in a Ryedale village after planners gave the go-ahead for the scheme.

Broadacres Housing Association applied to Ryedale District Council for permission to create the affordable properties on land next to St Hilda’s Street in Sherburn, between Malton and Scarborough, and the proposals have now been approved.

The firm won approval after securing support from residents and the local parish council and said the project would help meet a need for affordable homes in Ryedale, as well as contributing to the “positive regeneration of the village community”.

Six of the homes will have three bedrooms and the others will be two-bedroom properties.
