TWO new figures have taken over policing in Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale.
Superintendent Glyn Payne is the new Safer Neighbourhood Commander for Scarborough and Ryedale, while Chief Inspector Kerrin Smith has been appointed as Chief Inspector for the Scarborough and Ryedale Command.
Supt Payne replaces Supt Javad Ali who retires this year, while Chief Insp Smith succeeds Chief Insp Dave Foster who has been promoted to Superintendent in the Specialist Operations department which oversees roads policing, firearms, counter terrorism and public order.
Chief Insp Smith served for 16 years with Northumbria and Cleveland police, and spent a year training police in Iraq in 2006/7, and is one of just 20 International Hostage Negotiators in the UK.
