A NORTH Yorkshire MP has claimed an extra £35 million of funding to the NHS in the region is evidence of the Government’s commitment to the NHS.
Anne McIntosh, Tory MP for Thirsk, Malton and Filey, said the extra grants, which will go towards cancer drugs, 4,200 extra health visitors, and therapies for people with mental health problems, would help “protect the NHS”.
Miss McIntosh said: “We recognise just how important the NHS is to this country and to patients here in North Yorkshire.”
It was announced this week the Government’s controversial plans to reform the NHS were to be delayed to allow more time for consultation.
The reforms were branded “reckless” by Labour leader Ed Miliband.
