A PUBLIC meeting to discuss controversial plans for a £200 million waste processing plant locals fear will cause health problems is to take place tomorrow.
North Yorkshire County Council has asked AmeyCespa to build a waste processing site at Allerton Park, near to Harrogate.
The Allerton Waste Recovery Park scheme has attracted many critics and some locals have set up the North Yorkshire Waste Action Group against it.
AmeyCespa staff have held a series of public meetings to discuss the proposals and another is to take place tomorrow at Arkendale Community Hall, near Harrogate, between 6pm and 9pm.
Bill Jarvis, project director for the Allerton Waste Recovery Park, said: “We are keen for residents to find out more about our proposals and ask questions.
“This open approach ensures that everyone can form a balanced view of the plans and can have their input. Our new mythbusters page on the website is a good starting point for information. We have already attended many meetings and events and have more public exhibitions coming up over the next two months.”
Other events around the county are to take place in October and November.
