SUPPORTERS threw flares into the crowd at a football match in North Yorkshire this week.
North Yorkshire Police are investigating after what they called "significant disorder" during Wednesday night’s match between Whitby Town and FC United of Manchester.
A spokesman said the disorder mainly involved the home supporters, with flares being set off and thrown into the crowd and onto the pitch, and officers believe the flares were hidden inside the Turnbull Ground at some point before the match.
An 18-year-old local man has been arrested in connection with the disorder and the police are working to identify other people who were involved.
Anyone who was at the match and witnessed the disorder, or has video or photographic footage from the incident, is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, email rebecca.lalor@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
