FLAMINGO Land has been named Yorkshire’s best attraction in a public vote.
The Ryedale theme park and resort has been named Yorkshire’s Most Magnificent Attraction 2014 following a summer vote, and has beaten 15 other attractions including last year’s winner, Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
Sarah Mills, a Flamingo Land Resort spokeswoman, said: “We are absolutely delighted. The unique combination of a theme park, animal collection and holiday resort has evidently resonated with our guests.
“This recognition shows there is clearly something here for everyone.
“We have had a record year so far, indicating visitors are appreciative of the continued investment into the park, including lemur and wallaby walk-throughs, a new Mansion House & Tea Rooms which also caters for events and weddings and Riverside One which has now hosted chart topping live acts such as Tinchy Stryder.”
More than 13,000 people voted for their favourite Yorkshire attraction this year, nearly tripling the amount of votes received in 2013, with Yorkshire Wildlife Park coming in second place followed, in order, by Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Eureka! The National Children’s Museum.
