A NEW park and ride service aimed at easing a North Yorkshire seaside town’s congestion problems will open on Good Friday.
The scheme in Whitby is being provided by North Yorkshire County Council, with the service having about 230 parking spaces.
However, the terminal and overflow car park are yet to be completed and temporary facilities, such as toilets, will be in place until then.
Whitby Streonshalh councillor Joe Plant said: “Tourism is the key to Whitby’s continued prosperity, and making it much easier for visitors to get into and out of the town without clogging up the highways network and without making the daily life of residents more difficult is a major step forward.”
