A MAN who has lost more than six stone after starting running is due to take part in a 10km run in London.
Thijs Baxter, a volunteer at Ryedale Citizens Advice Bureau, is running on behalf of the CAB.
He said: “When I took up running I weighed a hefty 19st 7lb which was a lot, even for my 6ft 3ins height. Initially I ran a distance of around 500 yards a day and was dead on my feet! I gradually built the distance up and watched what I ate and some nine months later I’ve lost 6st 5lb and weigh a healthy 12st 12lb.
“It’ll be a bit of a watershed for me – I’ll have gone from someone who was very unfit to someone who ran 10k in front of a crowd in London whilst raising funds to help people in my community.”
To sponsor Thijs, and support the bureau, phone Ryedale CAB on 01653 695542.
