A SLIMMER from North Yorkshire dropped three dress sizes in eight weeks after being told by her daughter she was “too wobbly”.

Laura Middleton, 25, from Malton, weighed almost 15 stone and dreaded going to the park with her four-old daughter, Amy, as her obesity meant even the slightest activity tired her out.

When Amy told her mother “You are too wobbly, mummy – you eat far too much”, it was the wake-up call Laura needed to improve her lifestyle.

Laura, who is studying for a degree in public-sector management at York College, said: “I didn’t particularly eat unhealthily, I just ate too much. I was eating for four people. I hated what I was doing to myself, but whatever I tried I couldn’t seem to shift it. You name a diet and I gave it a go. But none of them worked. I was suffering quite badly from depression and my obesity was so bad that they were talking about me having a gastric-band operation.”

Last summer, Laura chose to use her savings and an inheritance on a £3,500, eight-week trip to Norfolk, to undergo the No 1 Boot Camp – with a strict diet and fitness regime developed by former Royal Marines – while Amy stayed with relatives.

There, Laura went from 14st 9lb to 11st 11lb, and from a size 16 to a size 10, losing almost a pound per day, and her weight has remained the same ever since.

She no longer snacks on cakes and crisps between meals, and the improvement means more than just smaller clothes.

She said: “I was like a completely new woman. But the most satisfying thing for me was seeing Amy’s reaction.

“She told me ‘Mummy, you are beautiful – your fat tummy has gone’. That is the ultimate tribute.

“Amy loves the new me. She says that her mummy isn’t wobbly any more.”
