A WILD West hoedown was staged at the Gateway Centre, in Acomb, with residents dressing as cowboys and cowgirls to enjoy an evening of fun and laughter.
The hoedown was organised as part of the church and charity’s drive to support the local community and create greater links with it.
Hoedown co-ordinator Steve Racher said: “We wanted to create a lighted hearted fun evening for the local community in Acomb to get together in a very safe environment.
“During the evening, we had live music from The Last Chance Saloon, a Yorkshire-based music group who sounded fantastic and guided us through the dance steps, a bucking bronco, tin can ally shoot out, along with burgers and hot dogs.”
He added that other projects at the centre included parent, carer and toddler groups, youth activities, a café drop-in for the over 60s and other inter-agency work, a free debt advice service and a confidential advice and support service for those facing unplanned pregnancy offered by Reflect.
