THE Archbishop of York will visit St Hilda’s Church in Tang Hall tomorrow to celebrate its 80th anniversary.
Dr John Sentamu, who will preach at the 11am service, to which all are welcome, said St Hilda’s had been at the heart of Tang Hall for the past 80 years and was still going strong.
The church opened in 1934 to serve the new housing estate of Tang Hall, which was built after the First World War to provide homes for heroes, but the current building was opened in 2002 after the original church was demolished in 2000.
