YORK residents will be able to access some of the world’s leading academic research for free through a new initiative.
Content from more than 8,000 academic journals will be made available to libraries free-of-charge through the Access to Research scheme.
That means more than 1.5 million journal articles and conference proceedings from a broad range of subjects can be viewed for free in York’s libraries Coun Sonja Crisp, City of York Council cabinet member for culture, said the move would place some of the world’s most trusted sources of information at residents’ fingertips.
The trial project, due to run until February 2016, will provide greater access to publicly-funded research, while encouraging more residents to use their local libraries.
