TOWTON Battlefield Society is planning a charity event on Palm Sunday, April 13, to commemorate the battle.

The society and its affiliated re-enactment group The Frei Compagnie will stage a guided memorial walk over the battlefield, and a day-long living history event in the grounds of Towton Hall.

The guided walks of three miles, with warm clothes and stout footwear recommended, leave from the gate of the event field outside the barn on Old London Road between 9.30am-10.45am.

In the barn will be craft stalls, traders and exhibitors including Wars of the Roses artist Graham Turner.

On the event field, will be a medieval encampment of soldiers and craftspeople, falconry, archery, gunnery and sword combat demonstrations. There will be a memorial service at 1pm.

Refreshments will be available on the field and at the Rockingham Arms public house.
