IMPOVERISHED children overseas are receiving the joy of a present this Christmas, thanks to the annual shoebox appeal.
Schools, churches, companies and other groups across the region have been taking part in the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child appeal, which delivers festive parcels to disadvantaged children across the globe.
Among those taking part were the office letting agency Regus, which has a base in Harrogate.
Over the last few weeks, individuals and groups have been dropping off present-filled shoeboxes at the Regus centres at Station Bridge, donating small toys, sweets and gifts to send to children overseas in refugee camps, orphanages, homeless shelters and impoverished neighbourhoods.
Richard Morris, CEO of Regus in the UK, said: “We’re thrilled our local network of Regus centres could help such a worthwhile cause by being collection points again this year.
“We would like to thank all the local businesses, schools, groups and individuals who brought in shoeboxes and made it a great success.”
Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine.
Since the Operation Christmas Child appeal launched 14 years ago, more than 100 million children in 130 countries around the world have received been sent a Christmas shoebox.
Regus operates a global network of flexible, modern work spaces including business lounges and meeting rooms.
