A 25-year-old man suffered a serious leg injury when the car he was driving crashed in Knaresborough.
The driver of the blue Peugeot 207, from Harrogate, was travelling on Harrogate Road at High Bridge, near Mother Shipton’s Cavern, at 3.10am this morning.
He suffered a serious, but not life threatening, leg injury and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he remains.
Police are now urging any witnesses of the incident to come forward.
Traffic Sergeant Julian Pearson, of North Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Group, said: “I am aware that there has been some speculation on social media stating that this is a fatal collision. I can confirm that although the man did suffer a serious injury, he has not died.
“If you witnessed the incident, or saw the car just prior to it, I ask that you come forward and contact the police straight away.”
Call police on 101.
