FORTY jobs in Harrogate have been lost after a law firm was closed by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
Adobe Solicitors, which traded as Arc Property Solicitors and Action Conveyancing, has been closed by the regulators over an alleged failure to comply with accounting rules imposed by the legal profession.
In light of the action, Adobe’s director Rajob Ali has instructed DFW Associates to assist with a creditors’ voluntary liquidation of both Abode Solicitors and Mr Ali’s other business Offmanser Ltd, a support service company, which operated from the same address at Cardale Park in the town.
A total of 28 staff from Abode and 12 employees from Offmanser have been made redundant.
The SRA has appointed Stephensons Solicitors in Leigh as agents to deal with all matters currently held by Abode Solicitors, and client files from Abode’s offices were recovered earlier this week.
The firm was recognised by The Lawyer in 2011 as a top ten UK law firm in terms of revenue per partner.
