FRIARAGE Hospital at Northallerton is to benefit from funds raised at a classic car show later this month.

Swainby Classic Car Show, which is this year celebrating its tenth anniversary, is aiming to raise funds for a scanner for the hospital.

The popular show has raised tens of thousands for causes in the past and on Sunday, August 24 will be raising funds for the MRI scanner, as well as supporting Herriot Hospice Homecare.

The appeal has nearly raised its first £1m and is well on its way to reaching the £2 million target.

The show, held five miles from Stokesley on the A172, has grown year-on-year and visitors can see hundreds of classic cars.

Between 300 to 400 are expected from classic Rolls Royce and Bentleys to the more humble Austin 7, as well as classic motorbikes and tractors.

There will also be refreshments, trade stands, and the Gaslight Jazz Trio will be providing music and entertainment.
