PUPILS from Tadcaster Grammar School dressed in bright colours for the day to raise awareness of meningitis.
Steve Dayman, chief executive of Meningitis UK, visited the school to talk about the killer virus, which claimed the life of his own son, Spencer, 29 years ago.
Ben Raybould, head of Year Ten at the school, said: “The work that Meningitis UK does on a day-to-day basis is so important in terms of searching for a vaccine and for supporting those families who have experienced the disease first hand. As a school we know this only goes part of the way, but all the staff and students have really shown their support and I would personally like to thank them for all they have done.”
More than £1,500 will be donated to Meningitis UK by Tadcaster Grammar School and go towards its Search 4 A Vaccine campaign.
