VOLUNTEERS from across Yorkshire collected more than 555 pieces of litter at South Landing Flamborough beach as part of the Marine Conservation Society’s Great British Beach Clean.
They included a kitchen knife with a 4.5 inch blade, fragments of glass and fishing lures with intact hooks. Vicky Pawson, from Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s Living Seas Centre at Flamborough, said: “The beach at South Landing is now a cleaner and safer place for all to enjoy.”
She urged everyone visiting the area to dispose of their waste responsibly and recycle as much as possible.
