THE winners of the Humberside Fire & Rescue Service Community Awards will be nominated next month.

Members of the public have been nominating their local heroes for several weeks, and the winner will be announced on Thursday, September 25.

Katrina Goodhand, organiser of the awards, said: “There will be a number of different awards given at the ceremony, to members of the public, our partners and staff, in recognition of the contribution they have made in creating safer communities.

For the Local Hero award we are asking people to nominate someone they think has acted in a manner befitting the title of Local Hero. This does not necessarily mean that they have performed some kind of rescue, as heroic acts can be carried out by people who just make a really positive difference to others through their actions.”
