A BENEFIT fraudster from East Yorkshire has been punished for claiming more than £2,000 he was not entitled to.
Geoffrey Pears, 56, of Skiff Lane, Holme-on-Spalding Moor, admitted failing to promptly notify East Riding of Yorkshire Council that his circumstances had changed and that he had started working full-time in December 2010.
This meant he fraudulently claimed £2,365.29 between January 2011 and March 2013.
Magistrates fined Pears £73 and ordered him to pay £566 costs, as well as ordering him to repay the money he should not have received, after the council investigated the case.
