A PRISONER has been stabbed at Full Sutton prison near York, the Ministry of Justice has confirmed.
The attack, carried out by another inmate, happened at about 4pm on Monday at the high-security jail in East Yorkshire, which houses some of the most dangerous criminals in the country.
A Prison Service spokesperson said: "The prisoner was taken by ambulance to an outside hospital and treated for a stomach wound.
"He was returned to the prison that night."
The service said police are investigating the attack and the prison will also conduct its own investigation.
