FLASHING blue police lights aren't always a welcome sight, but for one group of people it was a sight for sore eyes.
Patients whose bus broke down as they were heading to hospital for treatment were given the red carpet treatment by PC Nick Rookes, PC Michelle Rookes and PC Andy Senior when they spotted the York Against Cancer minibus had broken down and learned its passengers were on their way to vital appointments.
With a mechanic unable to reach the minibus for an hour, the patients were about to miss their treatments.
So there was only one thing for it. Give everyone a lift in the police car and blue light it all the way to St James Hospital in Leeds.
Well done to those quick thinking constables we say.
