HE was pilloried during his lifetime and besmirched by the Tudors, but even 500 years after being killed at Bosworth Field, Richard III still courts controversy.
Ingloriously dug up in a car park, the Yorkist king suddenly became popular among his subjects, in 2013, as York and Leicester bickered furiously over who should be allowed to re-bury him.
Now, after two winters of discontent, the battle has been won – or lost, if you live in this city – and we think it's high time to put the fight behind us.
After all, even King Richard deserves to rest in peace.
