We have someone else to congratulate today. in the form of the York shop assistant whose powers of observation and quick thinking stopped a national fraudster in his tracks.
James McAdam was in the middle of a five-month campaign of fraud when he was caught by an Argos worker at Monks Cross, who spotted his resemblance to a description of a customer circulated as being suspicious and raised the alarm.
McAdam had cheated his way to thousands of pounds worth of goods from stores all over the country by the time he was brought to book.
Crimes like McAdam’s are not victimless affairs; ultimately, the law-abiding consumer pays for them in increased prices. So we salute the worker who put a stop to his activities.
