OFSTED’S latest report makes worrying reading for some. Chief inspector Sir Michael Wilshaw says nationally, secondary schools have “stalled” and almost a third are judged to be not good enough.

However, it’s a different picture in York and North Yorkshire where the national trend is being bucked. In fact, 93 per cent of York’s secondary schools and 86 per cent of its primaries were rated good or outstanding. Sir Michael says the essential ingredients for success are no secret and include strong leadership, positive and orderly culture and good teaching.

It would appear York schools are a textbook example.
