YORK attracts around seven million visitors a year, who spend almost £450 million in the city. Now tourism chiefs want them to stay longer and include an excursion into Ryedale.
It sounds like a good idea to us. After all, Lonely Planet named Yorkshire as one of the top places in the world to visit and there is far more to the county than Europe’s largest Gothic cathedral.
Apparently, visitors regularly say a couple of days in York is not enough, so let’s hope this campaign encourages them to book for a week and then discover how wonderful God’s own county really is.
