YESTERDAY was Britain's warmest ever Hallowe'en and nine out of the ten months this year have seen above-average mean temperatures. No wonder leaves are still on the trees.

So it seems a bit daft that next Friday was going to be the last green bin collection of the year.

Fortunately sense has prevailed and now there will be an extra pick up in January, so leaves yet to fall, along with dead Christmas trees, can be recycled rather than go to landfill. Which has to be the right thing.
