ANOTHER health issue in the headlines recently is young people with brain tumours, after three York mothers, whose children were diagnosed with the disease, decided it was time to raise public awareness of the condition.
The women began by setting up a stall in St Helen’s Square, where they distributed HeadSmart cards outlining symptoms that should be drawn to a GP’s attention.
Now, as part of phase two of the campaign, thousands of York pupils will be given these cards at school. We hope the information they contain will help to spread the message that it is imperative to act quickly.
