TICKETS are on sale for a charity gig in aid of the Guardian Angels high dependency unit for children at York Hospital.

It will take place on Saturday at The Duchess, in York, and will feature The Yards, Mark Wynn, Boss Caine and Andy Stones.

Tickets cost £6, plus a booking fee, or £7 on the door, and are available in advance by phoning 08700 600 100 or online at wegottickets.com.

The event is being organised by Stuart Fletcher, bass player for The Yards, and Andy Shield, who will climb the 5,895-metre summit of Mount Kilimanjaro this autumn in aid of Guardian Angels. The 29-year-old is also organising a one-day first aid course for parents, teaching them the skills that could save their child’s life.

Places are still available for the course next Saturday, which will be held at Oakland’s sports centre, in Acomb.

First Rescue, a Tadcaster-based company, has offered to run the course for free, meaning the £30 fee will go straight to Guardian Angels, with participants also receiving a free First Aid kit and manual worth about £15.

To book a place on the course, phone Andy on 01904 553017, or email andy.shield@york.gov.uk.
