A SOFTWARE company in York is booming as a result of the coalition Government’s impending public-sector budget cuts.

Sawfish Software, on the Middlethorpe Business Park, Bishopthorpe, claims its sales have tripled as local authorities clamour for its productivity-driven systems. Councils across the UK are turning to specialist technology to meet the challenges of public-sector budget cutbacks.

Steve Hull, chief executive of Sawfish Software, said: “The Government’s October Spending Review is making public-sector organisations question their out-of-date business process systems, and as a result they are turning to the expertise of Sawfish Software.

“Sawfish has been offering tailored and streamlined software solutions for individual organisations for the last six years. But a trend we are also noticing is clusters of councils are now pooling their resources on council tax and rent arrears, along with other business streams such as applications queries and staff information.”

As well as the 300 per cent surge in sales, the company has also secured a number of contract wins this year, including local government beacon council, Aylesbury.

The deal gives the council access to Sawfish’s Debtflow Software, a programme which helps improve the options available to their residents in rent arrears, or other financial problems.

Sawfish Software has also scooped a number of high profile awards this year, including the Best Use of Technology at the Credit Today Awards 2010.

Founded in 2004, Sawfish Software supplies internet-based software to council, health care and debt management companies, providing web-based technology for automating and managing best practice for profit.

It allows organisations to make better use of information held on internal computer systems and paper via state-of-the-art software, giving those privy to the information easier access at a much reduced cost via the internet.
